3. How do I get rid of junk e-mail (SPAM)?

We all receive junk mail. MDS Wireless utilizes state of the art Anti-Spam technology to ensure that the mail servers are not busy processing spam, but rather dedicated to processing EMail. One of the most significant ways that you will reduce the amount of spam you receive is by ensuring that you have not put your email address in any public area, especially on a website or on an advertisement page. Once a spammer gets a hold of your email address, they will most likely sell it to other spammers.

6. How fast is dial-up Internet access?

Dial-up Internet access is excellent for people who check their e-mail and do a bit of surfing the Internet. You'll experience small wait times when loading web-pages or downloading large attachments, but for the most part, the average user will be happy with speed of dial-up Internet access.

Far too often people misjudge the speed of their dial-up connection by double clicking on the dial-up connection when connected and reading the "Speed:" information. This information is provided by Windows as an indicator of your initial "handshake" speed. This speed is constantly changing while you are connected so the initial "handshake" may not be your actual connection speed 30 seconds after you connect.

7. Why do I always get disconnected from the Internet?

There are many reasons that a computer will disconnect from the Internet after it's been connected. MDS Wireless does not disconnect users once they have connected to the Internet. Disconnection problems are usually the result of one or more of these three problems:

Problem: Static or other problems with the physical phone line itself.
Solution: Call your telephone company and ask them to do a line test on your telephone line.

Problem: Call Waiting is not disabled prior to dialing up.
Solution: Simply enter *70, before the phone number when your computer is dialing up. Example: *70,547-5479

Problem: Settings on your computer are disconnecting you after X amount of time.
Solution: Different versions of windows have these settings in different places, so we recommend giving our technical support staff a call to ensure these settings are not enabled.
